Laser hair removal is an effective technique for eliminating unwanted hair and achieving smooth, silky skin.
However, to maximise the results of laser hair removal, it is important to take good care of your skin, particularly by keeping it well hydrated.
In this article, we will explain how good skin hydration can help to improve laser hair removal results and give you practical tips on moisturising your skin effectively.
Hydrate your skin!
Why is good skin hydration so important when it comes to laser hair removal?
Quite simply because well-hydrated skin is more supple and elastic.
Dry, dehydrated skin can have a greater propensity for redness or irritation following a laser hair removal session, as the skin is more sensitive.
Tips for moisturising your skin before and after a laser hair removal session
Here are some practical tips for moisturising your skin correctly before and after your laser hair removal session:
Hydrate on the inside
The first step to keeping your skin hydrated is to drink plenty of water (or herbal tea).
Use gentle moisturising products
Use gentle moisturising products for your skin, such as creams, lotions and natural oils. Avoid products containing perfumes or colouring, as these may irritate your skin.
Keeping your skin well hydrated throughout the year is a good way to optimise your laser hair removal sessions as it decreases the risk of burns.
In particular, we strongly recommend that you keep the area treated well moisturised, both morning and evening, for 3 days following your laser hair removal session.
Avoid hot showers
Hot showers can dry out your skin, it is therefore preferable to take warm showers to avoid drying it out.
Use a humidifier
If the air in your home is dry, use a humidifier to help maintain the air humidity and prevent skin dehydration. Especially during winter when central heating tends to dry out rooms.
Exfoliate twice a week
Exfoliating is a great way to eliminate dead skin and achieve bright, soft skin.
Now you know what to do… stay hydrated inside and out!
